  • Jo, (fermentologist, nutritionist and medical herbalist), will guide you through the principles that underlie safe, effective home fermenting and the numerous culinary and health reasons why you might want to incorporate ferments into your life. You will also have the opportunity to get hands-on and make your very own ferment to take away with you.

The lunch time feast consists of an array of delicious fermented delicacies that illustrate the diversity of flavours and textures achievable with these amazing foods. We will eat sourdough, cheese, fermented vegetables and more, all washed down with fermented drinks.

During the afternoon, we will explore water kefir and milk kefir and how to incorporate these wonderful drinks into your life. There will also hopefully be time to explore Jo’s speciality - her range of herbal oxymels.

We have some capacity for concessionary places where they are needed. Please email us if you would like more information.

This event is brought to you by The Peach in collaboration with the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (the Institute). We are grateful to the Institute for its support in helping spread plant magic (and for this workshop, fermented plant magic!).

  • Come appropriately dressed in comfortable clothes and footwear. Fermenting is a hands-on experience. Don’t wear your favourite top!

  • Participants can park on St Thomas Street.

  • This event will take place at Jo’s home. For people with allergies, she owns a dog and a cat. Please come through the double gates next to the church and head for the large door under the porch (rather than coming to the front door on the street).
